Strengths: Home run.
Very friendly.

This is a site run by nice people, to allow others to enjoy the area.
Weaknesses: Do not expect baby sitting or swimming pools.

Strengths: Shower block very good and hot water when needed. Good facilities for washing dishes etc. Use of a fridge in the main house. Plenty of historical sites in area. Owners very very helpful and welcoming. Location to the border for travel to Greece and Turkey.
Weaknesses: No shaded pitches but plans are in the making to rectify this.

Strengths: Arriving at Silistar I felt more like being welcomed as part of the gang than staying as a guest. It's an incredible place literally in the middle of nowhere between the two last bulgarian coastal towns north of the turkish border, Sinemorets and Resovo.
The trailer I slept in was super well kept, the bed prepared like by my grandmother, the facilities freshly redone and on top of that the beach few minutes away is a true gem.
High recommendation ! Staff so incredibly considerate and friendly. The trailer had no plug outlets so I was - without having asked - provided with a powerbank to charge my phone.
Come and plan to stay for a while - the surrounding is wonderful to explore.
Weaknesses: Just keep in mind that it isn't easily accessed without a car. The bus can take you to either one of the mentioned towns, from both though is it quite the walk. Maybe ask to pay for staff to pick you up, sure they'd do it.
Also keep in mind, during high season it might get a bit busy at the beach, there are all kinds of facilities (food, shower, sunbeds, lifeguard) - so if you're looking for tranquil isolation come off season to enjoy the place by yourself.

Strengths: Nice site in mountains.
Weaknesses: They allow dogs but do not allow dogs in their outside eating areas so the only way to eat in their restaurants is to leave your dog in a hot caravan which is not going to happen. Out dated terms and condition which nobody reads anyway.

Strengths: The camp site is close to sea, but doesn't have a direct connection. The showers and toilets are clean and modern.
Weaknesses: Weird reception. Be sure to first go to the restaurant with the same name: Zora. The owner is most of the time there. She doesn't speak English or only a little. Tip: don't go for dinner in this restaurant. I didn't think it was that good.

Strengths: Clean, tidy facilities and showers with scorching hot water.
Great view over the lake and many opportunities for mountain sports. Friendly and very helpful owner who speaks English and offers great service. Free high-speed internet all over the campsite.
Overall, I am really impressed with the campsite, nature, service and facilities.
Weaknesses: None.

Strengths: * Very friendly - positive minded - and helpful owner.
* Nature feeling of wooden sanitary (on concrete floor) and natural stone 'sinks'.
* View on the lake and the hills.
* Quiteness.
* Relative high in the mountains. Giving relatively cool climate and breeze. So really not too hot (much cooler than Plovdiv).
* hiring canoes take make a tour on the lake.
* sanitary installation clean enough and functional.
* very good restaurant at about 1 km distance.

We really had a great time - and the longer we stayed the more we liked.
For me the top assets are the place (lake & temperature), the owner (very positive attitude) and the nature feeling of the sanitary (yes - it's different from a polished concrete building which you find an most campings).
Not a camping with typical large scale organized activities.
At least until now - Bulgaria is a very nice surprise!
Weaknesses: * Not much shadow.
* when all showers occupied - not much warm water.
* entrance road could be improved.

Strengths: Visited the campsite with my wife and 2 kids in July 2011. The campsite is very nice, very clean, friendly and quiet. The owner speaks fluent English and is very friendly and helpful. The kids and I really enjoyed kayaking and cycling around the lake. I can say that Eco Camping Batak together with Camping Veliko Tarnovo are the best maintained campsites in Bulgaria.

Strengths: The swimming pool is amazing.
It is a beautiful, clean campsite in a lovely rural setting. The owners are campers themselves who have thought about everything that a traveller might need. The shower blocks are fabulous and even include a family shower.
The Wifi was good, so we Skyped home regularly.
The laundry service is fantastic and was quick too.
We had a great time and will be back !
Weaknesses: The trees are still growing, so don't provide a lot of shade yet.

Strengths: Great camp wardens very helpful & friendly. Pool used by camp and locals made a good atmosphere. Very clean. Kitchen to use with cooking & kettle. Nice restaurant with english & bulgarian food.
Weaknesses: Lots of midges but we were lent fly cream and candles were put out to deter. Cannot think of anything else to put in here - we were only planning to stay one night but ended up staying 2.

Strengths: Quiet, great swimming pool, great sanitary, good restaurant, great view.
Weaknesses: Slow service at restaurant. Some smell in sanitary. No shade.

Strengths: A quiet, well appointed camp site opened in 2009. This camp site is still being developed but what it has already is terrific. The bathroom amenities are excellent and there are very good laundry and kitchen facilities for tent campers.
It is close to main towns and tourist sites and hiring a taxi is very cheap.
Great little restaurant and free wifi. It was a haven in Bulgaria. Thank you Nick and Micky.
Weaknesses: Sites are settling so were sloping for our tent.

Strengths: This is a paradise on earth. The best campingplace for ever, and I have been in many countries and campingplaces from Nordkapp in Norwegen to Dubrovnik in Croatia.
Wonderful. Clean. Quiet countryside. Nick and Nicky are so kind and helpful, and lovely.
I love this place ! Come here everybody !

Strengths: We felt like we had arrived in a little piece of heaven, after being on the road for 2 months, it was lovely to find somewhere so peaceful and CLEAN. The showers were superb, the cleanest and most modern we have seen. We were only 10 minutes from Veliko Tarnovo which has to be one of the best undiscovered medievil cities of Europe.
Our plans were to only stay for 2 days but we found many great day trips from this base and we couldn't believe how cheap everyting was away from the Tourist places that we ended up staying a week.
There is a lovely little cafe on site with a really good selection of Bulgarian wine for about 5 euros a bottle and tasty home cooked food, and Nicky makes fresh bread and cakes everyday, YUM !
We have never filled in any review forms before but we were made to feel so welcome by the owners Nik and Nicky who also helped us with great day trip ideas (not in any of our travel books) that we wanted to let other traveller know about this place.
Weaknesses: Really hard to think of any critism as the owners were so fantastic and helpful, the only think we felt could have been better was the signs to find the campsite as we don't have GPS but after talking to the owners we found out that this should be fixed by Spring 2010 (Bulgarian Red Tape apparently).

Strengths: We were very glad to find a perfect camping like this: really like a 5 star hotel: very luxurous bathrooms, washing machine and a kitchen to be used by the guests but also a restaurant with terrace. The website is very complete, also describes the environmental solutions to waste water etc. We are very impressed !
The camping site is very new, the only disadvantage at the moment is the lack of shade, the trees are still too small. And of course we are also looking forward to the planned swimming pool ! We want to wish Nicky and Nick a very pleasant and succesfull time at their luxurous camping site and want to thank them for their very friendly and helpfull attitude. Of course it was also a relief that they are English, helps conversation a lot :-) Thank you guys, good luck with your very pleasant and nice camping !

Strengths: The campsite is nice situated. There is a nice and quite clean beach nearby. The campsite staff is helpful and the whole area is well secured.
Weaknesses: The toilets and bathrooms must be improved.

Strengths: The campsite is beautiful, you are camping right at the seaside, under the trees. The people are friendly and every 30 minutes there goes a bus from the campsite to Sozopol (village). This campsite is mostly occupied by Bulgarian people.
Weaknesses: The toilets and showers are very very bad. They are not cleaned at all and are old and dirty. There are no seated toilets and the showers are one big room. Though, the water is warm and with your bading suit on, it is okay to just get the salt seawater of your body.

Strengths: Good reception, nice campsite. Lots of grass, shade. Nice beach. Almost no tourists but Bulgarian.
Weaknesses: Everybody wants to visit this beach and uses the toilets and showers... with no respect for the camppeople.

Strengths: An excellent spot managed very well by Nikolay. There is a nice view on the sea and a friendly atmosphere / international meeting point, barbecue, talks, smiles etc. Best place for sleeping in tent in Bulgaria.
Weaknesses: No one.

Strengths: It's a nice and quiet place that the owner Nikolay transformed to a small campground. He received us very gently and drove us for free from the airport. He also provided us a lot of information about the town and the pubs.
Weaknesses: None.

Strengths: Nikolay, the owner is a very friendly boy. He drove us to the camp from the bus station by his car for free. The camp is in fact his plot with a very nice view over the Black Sea. We met a lot of young tourists there and had fun.
Weaknesses: It is a very bohemian place but for 5 euros per night it's a perfect stay... If going, say hello to Nikolay from Tom and Suzana.

Strengths: It is a beautiful location, In the forest, beautiful trees and nature.
Weaknesses: The toilets are horrible. There are no seated toilets and the ones that are there are very dirty. Half of them have no door to close it and they are never cleaned. The showers are outside and probably dangerous (I hope you do not get electrocuted by the warm water supply).
"chetvarti kilometar" means 4 kilometers, which means that it is 4 km uphill (which is a long walk when you are backpacking). In Sandanski no one can tell you where campsites are and there are no signs where to look.

Strengths: Friendly english speaking owner. Great location next to a stream with seats overlooking & right in the mountain near monestary. Small site. Good food & accomodating restaurant open late & with outdoor seating along stream.
Weaknesses: Shower & toilet combined, but all clean.

Strengths: We stayed for two nights and loved evey minute of it. We parked our 7m motorhome in the field by the river where we were able to plug into the electricity and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
It is situated in a lovely rural area surrounded by fantastic scenery.
We ate in the restaurant, which has a lovely typically Balkan atmosphere, one night. The food was tasty, plentiful and very reasonably priced by British standards.

Strengths: This campsite is near the Rila Monastry and has mainly small houses to rent, but also place for tents on a field next to the small river.
The campsite has good facilities, good (seated) toilets and clean warm showers, and a restaurant with good food and kind people.
From the campsite you can easily walk to the monastery, eat some mekitza, or do some other nice walks to churches in the area. Also you can do longer day trips (for hikers) from the monastery, the routes are marked (e.g. to the 7 lakes).
